FAQ
♦ How long does nail extension last? Extensions last for about 3-4 weeks depending on your nail growth. |
♦ What is the difference between ‘acrylic’ and ‘gel’ nail extensions? Both acrylic and gel nail extensions are excellent options if you are looking for stronger, longer nails. Acrylic extensions are made by mixing a liquid monomer and a powder polymer to create a hard coating over the nail. While gel extensions are made by applying layers of gel under a UV lamp. Both give exactly the same look and feel. The only notable difference in the two is the removal procedure. As gel nails re filed off and acrylic nails are soaked off. |
♦ What is a nail refill? Over a period, extensions will grow out with your nails. Every 2-3 weeks, you should return to the salon to have your nails filled in. Your studio professional will gently file down the acrylic/ gel edge closest to your nail bed, then fill in the empty area between your nail bed and the existing acrylic/ gel nail. |
♦ Are nail extensions safe for nail biters? Nail extensions can be done on bitten nails providing the surrounding skin is not swollen and the skin is unbroken. Sculptured acrylic nails would generally work best as this method creates an illusion of proportionate nails. |

♦ Do nail extensions damage your natural nails? The acrylic/ gel itself is not what is harmful, damage is caused by improper use, application, care, or unprofessional removal. Your natural nail grows under acrylics, so they need regular maintenance to keep them healthy. |
♦ Do nail extensions hurt? Nail extensions may give off minimal pain due to the filing and/ or the product contracting and squeezing your natural nail as it dries up. This pain should go away in 2-3 days. |
♦ Is there an additional charge for different shapes and sizes? No, we do not levy any additional charges in these cases. |
♦ Does the removal of extensions hurt? No, the procedure does not hurt generally. Removal is done by soaking your acrylic/ gel in a soak-off solution which melts down the product easily in 15-20 mins. |

♦ How is ‘gel polish’ different from ‘gel nail extensions’? Gel polish is a blend of gel and nail polish. Because it is like a polish, it can’t be used to extend your nail. However, gel extensions are false nails used for nail sculpting and extensions, adding strength and durability to your natural nails. |

♦ How long do eyelash extensions last? Eyelash extensions usually last the length of the natural growth cycle of your own eyelashes. Depending on your activity and day-to-day routine, refills should only be required every 2 to 4 weeks. |
♦ What is the difference between a ‘Barbie Eyelash Look’ and a ‘Single Eyelash Look’? Single lashes are perfect if you already have healthy lashes, but to add more length. |

♦ Can I apply mascara to eyelash extensions? Our eyelash extensions are designed to give your natural lashes a fuller, healthier look. So, mascara is not particularly needed. However, we do offer a water-based mascara for those who feel the need to wear a deeper look on their lashes, especially if they’re nearing the time for their next refill. |
♦ How soon can I wash my face after the extensions are applied? The suggested time frame is 48 hours. For a guest with sensitivities, it is suggested to wash within the first 12 hours of application. |
♦ Will these lashes damage my natural lashes? They do not. If applied correctly and properly, they are safe and do not harm the health of your natural lashes. Be sure not to rub your eyes or tug or pull on the extensions because this can cause lash loss and even damage your natural lashes. |
♦ Can it be done according to the size required? Yes! Your professional will consult with you to understand what type of style you are interested in and what look will work best with your natural lashes. The overall look of the lashes can range from very natural to very voluminous. |
♦ Can it be removed at home? No! We do offer a service to have the extensions removed involving a short thirty-minute appointment in which we apply a gel-based remover. The gel-based remover is applied on top of the extensions without touching the skin and allowed to sit for 10 minutes. Once the adhesive is dissolved the extensions are gently wiped away with lint-free applicators. |
♦ What is the aftercare to maintain these lashes? Avoid getting lashes wet for the first 24-48 hours |
♦ What is permanent make-up? Micro-blading, is a procedure categorized under permanent make-up, but unlike traditional cosmetic tattooing, it is less invasive and is considered semi-permanent. Micro-blading typically lasts 1-2 years, depending on skin type and skincare routine. The procedure is done by using a hand tool with ultrafine needles and each ‘hair’ is gently etched into the skin, giving an incredibly natural and realistic look. Micro-blading can dramatically correct or fully reconstruct lost eyebrows/ lip shapes, even colour, and is excellent for those wanting to enhance their brows/ lip colour and line or who have little-to-no eyebrows, thin lips/ brows from age. Pigments used are chosen to match the natural or desired colour and skin tone will also be taken into consideration. |
♦ How long does it last? Since micro-blading pigments are not implanted into the skin as deep as traditional tattoos, the area will naturally fade overtime. Micro-blading typically lasts 1-2 years, depending on skin type (normal, oily, dry), age (youthful/mature). Skincare routine will also affect the lasting effect of the pigment: patients who tan, uses products with AHA or Glycolic Acid will fade faster as the skin will resurface faster. Each individual‘s colour retention within the skin will vary. To maintain the micro-blading looking fresh, a touch up is suggested every 12-18 months. Clients can let the micro-bladed area fade over time, but please note a slight shadow may remain. |
♦ How much time it takes for the service? For the first micro-blading session, the entire procedure should take about 2-3 hours. During this session, the technician will shape and style your brows/ lips for your approval first. We then follow that up with pigment colour selection. Once you’re satisfied with the choices, we begin the procedure. |
♦ How long does it take to heal? The eyebrow area will be slightly red after the procedure and colour will appear very dark. This is normal for the procedure and part of the healing process. The colour will fade by up to 40% as it heals. In the following days, the eyebrows will continue to be dark and you will notice slight scabbing. Do not pick at the scabs as this may damage the skin and the outcome of the micro-bladed area. The eyebrows will lighten up in colour as it heals. No down time is required after the micro-blading procedure. It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal over, and about 1 month for the colour to fully set in. You’ll notice the colour is very light right after two weeks of healing, the skin will have an opaque milky looking quality to it. This is known as ‘milk skin’ and is common in tattooing. This is due to the tissue that is still healing from the inside-out even though the surface of the skin is healed. The true colour will reveal itself once healed. |
♦ Is it painful? The level of pain for the procedure is considered mild to none. Prior to the procedure, your technician will apply a topical aesthetic to numb the area, and also reapply it during the procedure. Everyone responds differently to aesthetic; depending on the client, the feeling of the procedure has been described as light cat-like scratches, to not feeling anything. Topical anaesthetics used may contain lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine. After the procedure, redness and slight swelling in the area is normal. Clients describe the area feeling similar to a light sunburn. Clients can take Tylenol if they wish to do so, but not aspirin or ibuprofen. |
♦ Is the touch-up session necessary? Yes! A touch up session after 4-6 weeks is necessary as everyone heals differently and the outcome will vary. Certain areas may not pick up any reaction during the first session and will need to be refilled. Pigment colours may need to be adjusted, while brow thickness and more strokes can also be added. Individuals with oily skin often require a deeper shade during the touch up session as the oils tend to lighten the pigment. Most importantly, your touch up session is when we refine your brows/ lip-line and colour to ensure it looks perfect and retains the colour for the whole year. |
♦ Who is not suitable for the procedure? WMicro-blading is not suitable for the following candidates: • Using Accutane • Have heart conditions or using heart medications. • Have diabetes (will require a physician’s note).• Have skin disease or irritations.• Have had Botox in the last 2 weeks.• Have gotten a deep tan or chemical peels in the last 2 weeks.• Allergic to lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine or epinephrine• Anyone who has any serious medical conditions may require a physicians note.• Pregnant or nursing clients who want to microblade can be done at your own discretion. We suggest discussing with your doctor first. Micro-blading is still considered a tattoo, and just like with wine or sushi consumption, it is a personal choice to do so during this period. |
♦ What are the pre and post-care procedures? In order to achieve the best results, it is best to follow the pre and post care instructions. |
♦ What are the risks and complications involved? We take all proper precautions for a safe session by using sterilized equipment, new needles and perform the session in a sanitized environment. Should clients follow our pre and post care instructions, there should be minimal risks or complications. Although allergic reactions to the pigments are rare, it could be possible for certain individuals. We suggest a pigment patch test for individuals who have high skin sensitivities or are sensitive to: Topical make-up products |
♦ What if I don’t like the outcome of the procedure? As with all cosmetic procedures, individuals should not make their choices lightly. We always recommend clients do their research, understand the procedure and compare different artists’ work and portfolio when making their decisions. Our technicians will do their utmost to shape and style the eyebrows/ lips to the clients’ satisfaction prior to the procedure. Every effort will be made to achieve an even appearance, but please realize perfect symmetry isn’t always the case. Uneven appearances can be fixed during the touch up session. Pigment discolouration and colour correction can also be fixed during the touch up session. Micro-bladed brows will eventually fade away if no additional touch ups are done. |
♦ Prior to your procedure, clients are advised of the following: • Avoid alcohol and aspirin/ibuprofen and any vitamins that may thin your blood for 72 hours. • Avoid tanning so we can assess your natural skin tone.• No face scrubs or chemical peels at least two weeks prior. • Feel free to come in with their brow make-up on so our technician can see your every day look you prefer. Reference pictures of shapes and colours of brows are always welcomed. We will then work together to create the perfect brows. |
♦ After your procedure, clients MUST follow these instructions: Within 2 hours after the procedure, clean brows using a q-tip and lightly moisten with distilled or cooled downed boiling water. Gently wipe away the old healing cream and any lymphatic liquid (clear yellowish liquid) that may have built up. Lightly pat dry with tissue and using a new q-tip, re-apply healing cream to the brows/lips. |
♦ Make sure to apply a light layer of healing cream morning and night to brows/lips for at least 5-7 days. Do not over apply healing cream. Do not immerse brow area in water for 14 days. When showering, make sure to avoid face area. When cleaning or washing face, make sure to avoid brows/lips and clean around it. Do not put make-up on the brow/lip area for a minimum of 10 days. Microbladed area is an open wound, using make-up may cause infections. Avoid alcohol and aspirin/ibuprofen and any vitamins that may thin your blood for 24 hours Micro bladed area will feel slightly itchy as it heals and will start to lightly scab over. Do not peel or pick at the scabs as this can affect the outcome and pigmentation. Do not go swimming, tanning or into saunas for at least 2 weeks. No face scrubs or chemical peels at least 2 weeks after. |
